1. Zero Bias P-type semiconductor와 n-type semiconductor를 접촉시킨 경우를 생각해보자.

그러면 p-type semiconductor의 hole은 n-type 쪽으로, n-type semiconductor의 electron은 p-type 쪽으로 확산될 것이다. 그러면 p-type semiconductor의 conduction band energy, valence band energy, intrinsic fermi energy는 증가하게 된다.

반대로 n-type semiconductor의 경우는 모두 감소하게 된다. Figure 1.
