You can always go back and get a job and that's not a bad thing. It's actually a really solid, stable option that a lot of people build great lives around.
The point isn't that a job is the "worst case." It's that even if things don't work out, you're not falling into some terrible outcome.
What tends to stick more is not trying at all. The ideas you keep pushing aside, the things you wanted to do but didn't because you were scared, that's where the "what if" comes from.
