1.1 반도체란 반도체 = metal과 insulator 사이의 conductivity를 가진 물질이다. elemental 반도체 물질: 주기율표의 그룹 IV에 해당하는 원소로 만들어짐. compound 반도체 물질: 주기율표의 그룹 III + V에 해당하는 원소들의 compound. e.g. Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) 1.2 고체의 종류 Amourphous: 매우 작은 ordered region.

Polycrystalline: 여러 덩어리의 ordered regions. Single: 크리스탈 전체가 ordered region. --> ordered region(=molecule들이 정돈된 region) 의 크기로 나누어짐.
