My beloved inquired if I have been feeling down lately. I responded that certain sorrows can only be unearthed when one is sufficiently steeped in happiness.

If I appear melancholic these days, it signifies that I am sufficiently content to allow these sorrows to surface. Alternatively, one could interpret this as the operation of envy, a concept in psychoanalysis.
